As 2026 approaches, Inglewood’s own Saki is stepping into a defining moment—not just for her career, but for her identity as an artist. Shaped by a lifetime of movement, expression, and storytelling, she brings a rare emotional clarity to her music. From ballet studios to hip-hop stages, from childhood dreams to the realities of motherhood, Saki has always expressed herself through art. Now, her evolution is crystallizing into a sound that is cinematic yet painfully honest—built on real love, real wounds, and real healing.

Ahead of her upcoming single “Perfect,” we sat down with Saki for an intimate conversation about the record, the story behind it, and her vision for 2026.

INTERVIEW

Q1: Can you introduce your upcoming single and share the inspiration behind it?
Saki: My upcoming single is called “Perfect,” and it’s one of the most vulnerable records I’ve ever released. It explores what it feels like to finally let your guard down with someone, only to remember exactly why you built those walls in the first place. The inspiration came from real emotions I was experiencing in real time—love, fear, softness, and uncertainty all happening at once. It’s about miscommunication, unspoken truths, and healing from someone you never thought you would have to.

Q2: Is there a personal story or experience that influenced the message of this track?
Saki: Absolutely. “Perfect” came from two real experiences where we could never get the timing or communication right. It always felt like when I pushed, they pulled—and when they pushed, I pulled. Walking away was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Sometimes forever isn’t always forever, even when we want it to be. That emotional truth is at the core of this record.

Q3: What motivates you as an artist, and how did that motivation shape this new release?
Saki: My biggest motivation is authenticity. I want my music to make people feel seen—especially those who are healing or learning how to trust again. That intention shaped “Perfect” by keeping it honest. No gimmicks, no exaggerations—just truth. My art is about connection, and this record was created to build that emotional bridge between me and the listener.

Q4: How would you describe the creative process—from writing to production—for this single?
Saki: The writing came naturally because the emotions were fresh. It felt more like a journal entry than a song at first. Production-wise, we kept everything soft, emotional, and cinematic. The goal was to let the vocals tell the story without overproducing. Every layer supports the feeling instead of competing with it.

Q5: Do you currently have management, or are you working independently right now?
Saki: Right now, I’m fully independent. I’m hands-on in every part of my career—from the creative direction to the business decisions. Being independent has taught me so much, but I’m definitely open to the right partnership, one that aligns with my vision, work ethic, and long-term goals.

Q6: Are there any record labels you’re interested in partnering with in the future, and what draws you to them?
Saki: Yes—labels like Interscope, Sony, Universal, and even Strange Music stand out to me. What draws me to any label is commitment to true artist development, creative freedom, and long-term vision. I’m building something meant to last, and the right partnership would respect my artistry, my brand, and the direction I’m growing in.

Q7: What are your goals moving forward, and how do you see this single shaping your next steps in the music industry?
Saki: My goals are to continue building a loyal fanbase, develop myself into a full brand, and release consistent visuals and music. I also want to secure performance and brand opportunities that genuinely represent who I am. “Perfect” shows a softer, more intimate side of me—different from the femme-fatale energy people usually see. I think it’ll help expand my audience on a deeper level. It sets the tone for what’s coming next: more truth, more growth, and a stronger connection with the people who support me.

As 2026 unfolds, Saki stands poised to become one of the year’s most compelling artists—unfiltered, unguarded, and unapologetically real. “Perfect” is just the beginning.
