Roubix Reclaims ‘Future Brain’ — And Finally Does What Den Harrow Never Could

Although Roubix’s reimagined version of Future Brain doesn’t officially release until 21 November, the song is already generating a wave of excitement across Italo disco circles and beyond. Online comments, early reviews, and radio DJs have been quick to praise the track, with some boldly suggesting that Roubix’s version “sounds better than the original.”

It’s a rare feat in music when a cover version manages not only to rival but potentially outshine a beloved classic. Yet, in this case, it’s easy to see why listeners are saying exactly that. Roubix, who has built a reputation for his meticulous production and deep respect for the 1980s Italo sound, has reworked Future Brain into what many are calling the version the song was always meant to be.

Originally made famous by Den Harrow, whose career was later revealed to involve mimed performances, Future Brain has long been a staple of the genre—nostalgic, sleek, and undeniably catchy. But Roubix’s interpretation breathes new life into it, blending vintage synths with a more emotional vocal performance and a sharper modern production. The result is both nostalgic and forward-thinking, a seamless bridge between past and present.

Music critics have noted that Roubix’s version feels “authentic and complete,” finally giving the track the sincerity it always deserved. Fans are already calling it one of his best works to date—and possibly a career-defining moment.

If early reactions are anything to go by, Future Brain could mark a turning point not just for Roubix, but for the entire revival of Italo disco. The world, it seems, is ready and waiting for this one.
