Popolo Music Group Wins Race for Rising Star Angele Lapp

Popolo Music Group (PMG) has signed rising Filipino teen artist Angele Lapp, stepping in just as the Cebu-born singer was gaining traction that could have sparked a competitive bidding war among major labels.

The deal underscores a broader industry shift, as emerging artists increasingly prioritize equitable revenue splits, creative autonomy, and long-term development over traditional major-label contracts. While financial terms were not disclosed, sources describe the agreement as highly competitive.

“Angele Lapp represents exactly what Popolo Music Group stands for—raw talent, authenticity, and a global mindset,” said PMG co-founder Paul Pooh Lunt. “We’re not here to control artists. We’re here to build careers that last.”

Founded by Paul “Pooh” Lunt and Huong Kim, Popolo Music Group operates as an independent, global entertainment company focused on K-pop and P-pop (Philippine Pop) artist development. With bases in Manila, Seoul, and Los Angeles, PMG recruits talent worldwide through online auditions, developing solo acts, girl groups, and boy bands with an emphasis on scalability and global reach.

Originally from Carcar, Angele Lapp built a steady fanbase through online covers and local festival performances across Cebu. Her debut is expected to blend contemporary pop with emotionally driven vocals, positioning her for crossover appeal.

“Coming from Carcar, Cebu, I never imagined this kind of opportunity,” Angele Lapp said. “Popolo believed in me not just as an artist, but as a person.”

Angele Lapp is currently undergoing artist development, with official releases expected later this year. With its first wave of records slated for mid-year, PMG continues to gain visibility as an alternative destination for next-generation pop talent.
