Journalist-Please, Introduce yourself?
A:My name is Marques Javon Gamber and I Go by The Ancient Artifact I’m 28 and I’m from Germantown Maryland #301 and I love music with a passion
Journalist-What got you into music and made you realize that it was your chosen path?
A: My Mom she raised me off of Jazz Classics from the sounds of Jeff Lorber to the impeccable bassline of Marcus Miller and Rap classics from Ice-T to the poetry of Tupac I used to play Alto Saxophone then I started adding words to it I loved to freestyle then started putting melodies together and speaking my mind and my Nana before she passed told me to go for it that’s when I knew music was my passion.
Journalist- What story behind your Success?
A: Loving myself and understanding that the biggest battle would be with myself constantly going back and forth to the drawing board writing thoughts, ideas and opinions of what’s going on in the world. The want to experience working with others I love collaborating and showcasing other music, art, and talent
Journalist-Tell us about your new single. And what’s the story behind it?
The Latest Single I dropped is called “I’m Back” going on my album TTLT2 releasing later this year it’s about going through hell and back mentally
Life hasn’t been the best but I’m back to overcome it when I heard the beat I went crazy made me feel like I was in a jazz cabaret and I just got to work
Journalist-What makes your music unique?
I speak what others don’t speak on and I love jazz and soul you don’t hear much of that anymore I want to show the soul of hiphop again
Journalist- What advice would you give to aspiring musicians?
Never give up and do it you can achieve so much just by talking reaching out you’d be surprised how much you learn about yourself take the chances and go for it worse they can say is no.
Journalist-And any particular artist/band you would like to collaborate with in the future?
I’d love to work with J. Cole just to get one good song out there talking about the world and everything on my mind with a poet like him? Extraordinary.
Journalist-Any upcoming projects in 2024?
Oh definitely! Got a single called “ITE” featuring my bro LoBo_301 dropping in March (produced by the PHENOMENAL Isaac Leo). Dropping the Sequel To my very first album TTLT (The Truffle Lane Tapes)end of spring it’s called “TTLT2”, I have a Duo album with my bro Cryptiik called “Up & Atom” coming later in the year I’m excited about that one, and I have a project with my Bro The CA$HLIFE called “The Facts of Life” dropping later in the year a few more but they are mystery drops hahaha
