In an exclusive interview with Music Times UK, Tony DeYoung, the talented rapper and entrepreneur, opens up about his experiences working with high-profile celebrities, his credits with major networks, and his philosophy on letting results speak for themselves.
Music Times UK: Tony, you’ve been quite vocal about the importance of having real credits and results in the industry, rather than just name-dropping or claiming to know celebrities. Can you elaborate on this philosophy and why you think it’s so important?
Tony DeYoung: Absolutely. I think it’s easy for people to claim they know celebrities or have connections in the industry, but at the end of the day, it’s about what you can actually deliver. Are you working with these celebrities? Are you getting credits on major networks? Are you using their platforms to reach new audiences? If not, then it’s just empty talk.
Music Times UK: That’s a great point. Speaking of credits, you’ve worked with some impressive names in the industry, including Dr. Phil and Oprah Winfrey. Can you tell us more about your experiences working with them, and what you learned from these opportunities?
Tony DeYoung: Working with Dr. Phil and Oprah Winfrey was an incredible experience. I learned so much about the importance of hard work, dedication, and perseverance. But more than that, I gained valuable insights into the inner workings of the industry and how to navigate it successfully. And of course, having credits with Oprah Winfrey Network and Dr. Phil’s show has been a game-changer for my career.
Music Times UK: You’re also a regular feature on (MusicTimes.CO.UK), the commercial UK website for (MusicTimes.com), as well as HipHopSince1987.com. Can you tell us more about these partnerships and how they’ve helped you reach new audiences?
Tony DeYoung: These partnerships have been instrumental in helping me grow my fanbase and reach new audiences. Music Times UK and HipHopSince1987 are both highly respected platforms in the music industry, and being featured on them has given me a level of credibility and exposure that’s hard to find elsewhere.
Music Times UK: We’ve also heard that Aftermath Entertainment, DJ Silk, Dr. Dre, and Interscope Records have all acknowledged your work. Can you tell us more about these acknowledgments and what they mean to you?
Tony DeYoung: Yeah, it’s an incredible honor to have received recognition from these industry legends. Aftermath Entertainment, DJ Silk, Dr. Dre, and Interscope Records are all icons in the music industry, and to have them acknowledge my work is a testament to the hard work and dedication I’ve put into my craft. It’s not every day that an independent artist like myself gets recognized by these kinds of industry heavyweights.
Music Times UK: That’s a great point. How many rappers can say they’ve received acknowledgments from Aftermath Entertainment, DJ Silk, Dr. Dre, and Interscope Records?
Tony DeYoung: Honestly, I think you can probably count on one hand the number of rappers who have received this kind of recognition. It’s a rarefied group, to say the least. But I’m just grateful to be part of it, and I’m going to keep working hard to make the most of this opportunity.
Music Times UK: Last but not least, what advice would you give to other artists looking to build real credits and results in the industry?
Tony DeYoung: My advice would be to focus on building real relationships and delivering high-quality work. Don’t just focus on name-dropping or claiming to know celebrities. Instead, focus on creating value and making meaningful contributions to the industry. And always be looking for ways to improve and grow, both as an artist and as a professional.
